GENERAL

This tournament is being organised by Suffolk Junior Chess in association with Sudbury Chess Club. Sudbury Chess Club meet on Tuesday evenings from 7.30 10.30 at Sudbury Institute Club, 54 Station Road. For details telephone Robert Sanders, 01787-882945.

ELIGIBILITY & ENTRY FEE

The tournament is open to all players aged under 18, ages calculated as at 31 August 2002. ADULTS may also enter the open section. Sections are as follows:

OPEN (including adults)                            £7.00
UNDER 14                                                  £6.00
UNDER 12                                                  £5.00
UNDER 10                                                  £4.50
NOVICES (under 800 rating
               and age under 13
               on 31.8.02)                                   £4.00

The tournament organisers reserve the right to use the latest available ratings and to place players in their age group section if considered too strong for the Novices section.

The organisers also reserve the right to amalgamate sections in the event of low entries in any section

 

RATE OF PLAY

The rate of play will be 30 minutes per player per game. Clocks will be used on all boards, and assistance will be provided where needed.

BYES

Players play in all rounds, but may request a 1/2 point bye for the first round if they will have difficulty arriving before the start of round 1, and provided that this is requested on the entry form.

PRIZE GIVING

Prizes will be awarded according to the size of entry. This will be as soon as possible after the completion of all games. In 2003, 70 players competed for a total prize fund of £370.

 

BOOKSTALL

Peter Keffler will be running a bookstall throughout the event. Stationery and adult chess books will only be brought if ordered in advance. Advance orders can be placed on 01255‑432883.

The bookstall will remain open for a while after the prize giving, when prize cheques may be cashed for purchases.

Peter is generously donating book tokens as prizes.

REFRESHMENTS

Refreshments will be on sale throughout the day. Packed lunches may be consumed on the premises.

CLOSING DATE

Entries will be accepted up to Thursday ?? April. Entries after this date will be subject to a late entry fee of £2. NO ENTRIES ON THE DAY.
